Chillout Selection LEVEL 2

cover-templar-chillout-2-basse.jpgThis fourth album is a tribute to east european immigrants.

Chillout Selection LEVEL 2 marks the beginning of the second chapter of Peter Templar’s opuses. We remain in the musical universe of the artist but discover new horizons. The electro sounds continue to confront acoustic melodies while slavonic voices invite themselves to pay a tribute to east european immigrants.

The majority of tracks on the album are in reference to the aspect of the culture and the life of these millions of immigrants from east europe who left their countries for the eldorados of the twentieth century. Peter Templar wanted to emphasize with sounds the unusual destinies of these men and women who discreetly influenced today’s western culture, often by hard sweat and the force of their muscles.

The Artist wanted to bring to light, without prejudice or complacency, a fascinating yet complex culture that has remained badly known. That is the case of tracks such as Kazakh Street, Ochi’s and Nasta’s. Other tracks express the reality of a Russia in complete mutation where suffering more than often overshadows happiness. It is for instance the case of Russian Soldiers Sometimes Commit Suicide or Kolkos Maternity.

Full of the atmosphere of the little russia in brooklyn (NY) this album remains absolutly electro through its tortured sounds with up to date filters and effects. But it also gives you a gut feeling with spellbinding eastern voices. Whether orthodoxe chants, red army choirs, bulgarian or ukranian voices, they all fuse with electro-vintage atmospheres which Peter Templar has the secret for, delivering powerful tracks and great melodies.
The result is presented in 13 rhythmic tracks taking the listener on a journey from the orient to the west of which he will not return unchanged.

Like in all Peter Templar’s compositions , the choice of the titles, certain sounds and rhythms are not always to be taken at face value for there are many symbolical allusions for the attentive ear. The video clip that comes with the album (Kazakh Street) is also filled with visual references.

Lounge Selection LEVEL 1

cover-lounge1-200x200.jpgThe first opus of this serie is created in continuity with Peter Templar’s first album (ChilloutSelection – Level 1). Lounge Selection – Level 1 contains 8 themes from Chilout Selection – Level 1, remixed in a much more rythmic club version.

But Peter Templar wanted to explore the “other side” of each theme selected. Lounge Selection is not just a club version of Chillout Selection. It is an emotional reengineering of each musical theme. According to this exploration, the cover is a vision of what the original picture of Chillout Selection can become as its other side. The track’s titles are also expressing this exploration, such as “The Sons of light” which become “The Daughters of light” or “Secret eye” which becomes “Public eye”.

Chillout Selection – LEVEL 1

csl1.JPGThis first album of Peter Templar released in january 2007. It is a selection of musical themes that most represent the influences of the artist at this time. Both coherent and multiple, he offers a music that is modern and reaches a large public and a series of significant allusions for the attentive ear.
It is also a provocative album. Through the choice of the cover he is expressing our faculty to lye to ourselves : Our eyes can’t help but stare at the young woman’s bare breast though the rest of the image clearly represents war and it’s violence. The presence of uniforms around the young woman relates to the contradiction between conventions and impulse thus bringing to light the inacceptable behaviour that the state of war accepts from individuals. It is a description of the impossible marriage between intuition and reason.
